🔥"I think I prefer ______ to Burning Man."

⁉️I'll give you 1000 guesses.

Yesterday we had a low-key housewarming at our new place. Afterwards I heard the words come out of my mouth,

“I think I prefer brunch to Burning Man.”

Who the hell have I become!?!?

Now, to be fair, my therapist called the housewarming a, “bracketing” of an extended growth period.

Moving into a beautiful home, together, with my life partner…it’s a big deal.

Finding joy in nesting is a massive shift from who I have been. It feels like most traces of my Peter Pan identity have faded.

But don’t worry, I’m still profoundly silly.

My parents and my therapist all came to the brunch and met each other! What a trip. My therapist said to my mom, “Interesting…from what John has said about you, I expected you to a grotesque ogre.”
Just kidding. They got along great.

It felt good to know that I am living authentically enough that I am the same person around my friends, lover, family, and therapist.

Why “Lovebird Landing"?”

Lisa is known as Lisa Littlebird. And I am known as Halcyon.

"Halcyon" is a mythical bird that was known to calm the sea.  

Lisa Littlebird + Halcyon = "Lovebirds"
