Moms of weird kids = Doing god's work
Thank you to all the mothers...and the nurturer in all of us.
This Mothers Day, my mom is in Europe traveling with my dad.
But I exchanged some texts. And I thanked her for always being such an unquestioning cheerleader.
In 2008, when I asked her to help me make a “Snuffleoctobike” for Burning Man, she was immediately 100% on board.
She helped me find fabrics, do tentacle tests, and sew the final furry limbs.
It didn’t occur to me until this weekend how significant her reaction was.
She didn’t say, “Why do you want do that?”
She didn’t say, “Couldn’t you spend that time finding a better job?”
She didn’t even raise her eyebrows or snicker.
She just said, “Sure!”
She just wanted to spend time with me and support my interests.
In a world that thirsty to raise its eyebrows and scoff at any weird impulse or expression, supportive moms are literal life-savers.
They are the saviors of divine inspiration.
They are the defenders of ridiculousness.
They hold our hands as we find our own way.
So THANK YOU to all you moms of weird kids.
The world is better off because of you and your little ones.
“Mother’s Day On Acid Part II”
In 2006, my brother and I played in front of a low-tech green screen and did some mothers day improv for my mom. (There was no acid involved even though we titled it such.)
This year, we decided to re-visit the premise and do it again.
One of us would yell a prompt (I.e. “JUNGLE!”) and then jump into screen.
Or just jump into screen and start acting (i.e. start shivering like they were cold.) The other brother would have to jump in and play along.
Only after we finished filming did we decide what images would be shown behind us.
Since mom is traveling she hasn’t seen the new version yet.
So, Mom? Please don’t click!
Mom Energy In Community
I was also thinking this weekend how we would all be better off with a little more “mother energy.”
I wrote in Medium about how, “...in community we are given a space to practice, grow, give, and receive that type of love.”
Mom Energy For Men
One of the ways I am trying to connect with my inner nurturer is through my work with Heart-Centered Men.
There are spots for 3 more men if you or your partner would like to join me June 6.
I love you.

BONUS: Here is a clip from Saturday’s Morning Broadcast. It was Lisa’s Birthday.
Her communiy choirs start this week in San Diego & Carmel…so you still have time to join & sing.
